Why can home repairs never go smoothly?
So the heat control handle on my kitchen sink broke. We bought a new faucet and couldn't install it cuz the old one had so much calcification that we couldn't get it out. So we decide to call a plumber to do it, and to fix our water heater too because for the last year it hasn't been keeping a consistent temperature. Two birds, one stone, etc.
So they come out to look first, and discover that there's a valve in my basement, right behind our computers, that is old and also needs to be replaced. Ok, three birds, one stone.
In the process of troubleshooting the water heater, the guy turned up the heat to see if it gives an error while heating up, and he forgot to turn it down before he left, so it overheated and blew the valve that was faulty already, but now it just constantly leaked water and flooded the room it's in. It's the room with the basement drain, so it's draining, but extremely slowly. So we turn off all the water until the next day when they come to do the actual work.
They're 3 hours late because they were working on a house that was actively flooding. By all means, fix them first. But it's 7:30 by the time they show up.
They have to saw out the old faucet. It takes hours. It fucks up the porcelain coating in some places. I should have just gotten the whole ass new sink I was considering. Oh well.
They fix the water heater, and I ask if they can snake the drain. They don't have one with them. Ok plumbers.
Since it is now almost 10pm and we have to work the next day, we ask them to come back later in the week to replace the rusty valve, since it's not actively a problem.
That was Tuesday. In the meantime we discover they didn't shut the water heater valve all the way, so it's slow leaking, and the drain is too clogged to keep up with it. Mike closes that, and stops the leak. We decide to ask the plumbers to snake the drain when they come back Friday.
Mike has an appointment Friday afternoon when the plumbers are scheduled to come, and he says he's going to stop at Lowe's to get a snake so we can do it ourselves, so I don't ask the plumbers to do it.
Everything seems fine after they replace the valve in the wall, and they leave. The floor got wet around it, so we put a fan on it to dry the carpet over night.
Mike discovers that the snake he bought won't work. The end is too big to fit through the drain cover so we're going to have to call the plumbers back, but we'll do it in the morning.
This morning I go downstairs to check the carpet, and it's still just as wet as it was.
The new valve is leaking.
For fucks sake.

a fun fact about how the last hour of my life has gone: my boss asked me to take our technical-emergency phone line this weekend/week (we'd discussed this before but this is the first time i've done it, i kept saying no because i'm not a field technician i'm in the office, and he was like but you help people troubleshoot all the time when they call in during normal business hours, so finally i was like ok i'll do this for you ['cause our other most experienced technician doesn't want to do it so my boss has been the only one doing it for like a year]. i'd previously been like 'but what if something needs an immediate service call i can't do that' boss was like 'then you just call me and if i'm out of town call technician, but tbh in the last almost 15 years i've only ever had to go on an emergency service call on weekend/nights one time')
on friday my boss was jokingly like 'watch, i haven't gotten a single call on the emergency line in months, and because i said that you'll get one.'
well guess who did indeed get an emergency call and whose boss is currently on his way to the location because neither of us could figure it out over the phone.

Say Goodbye to Buffering: Why TV Antennas Are the Secret to Seamless Viewing
Imagine this: it’s Friday night, you’ve made yourself comfortable on the couch, popcorn in hand, ready to unwind with your favorite show. Just as the climax approaches, it happens—buffering. The dreaded spinning circle appears, interrupting the flow and forcing you to sit in frustration. Many Australians have experienced this, often attributing it to internet issues. But what if I told you the solution to seamless, uninterrupted viewing doesn’t involve expensive internet upgrades or streaming services? Enter the humble TV antenna, a solution that’s been quietly delivering flawless viewing experiences for decades.
The Overlooked Power of TV Antennas
In an era where streaming platforms dominate, the role of a TV antenna is often undervalued. Yet, for many Australians, especially those in Toowoomba, investing in TV antenna installation Toowoomba service could mean saying goodbye to buffering, data overages, and the constant need to troubleshoot internet issues.
According to recent stats, Australians spend an average of 6.5 hours per day watching TV across various platforms . With this much time spent in front of screens, quality and consistency in TV reception are essential. Digital TV antennas offer crisp HD signals without the hiccups that come with streaming—no buffering, no delays, and no dependency on internet speed.
Why Antennas Are Ideal for Toowoomba Viewers
Living in Toowoomba presents unique challenges when it comes to TV reception. While streaming is highly reliant on internet speeds, which can vary greatly depending on location, a TV antenna Toowoomba taps directly into free-to-air broadcasts that deliver a steady, high-quality signal without requiring an internet connection. That’s right—you can enjoy HD TV without ever having to worry about buffering.
Not only that, but Toowoomba’s regional setting makes it even more crucial to have a strong antenna installation to capture the best signal possible. According to a study by Digital TV Australia, regions like Toowoomba are prime locations for digital TV antenna usage due to the geography, which can occasionally interfere with satellite or cable signals .
No More Subscription Fees: Saving Money with an Antenna
Australians are increasingly "cutting the cord" to escape the rising costs of cable and streaming services. With the average household spending up to $960 annually on subscriptions , switching to an antenna setup offers substantial savings. After the initial installation cost, a TV antenna provides access to free-to-air TV channels with zero ongoing fees.
In Toowoomba, the average cost for a professional TV antenna installation ranges between $200 and $400, depending on the complexity of the job. This one-time investment quickly pays for itself when compared to years of subscription fees. And for those worried about signal strength, modern antenna service and antenna repair Toowoomba ensure optimal performance, whether it's for a new installation or repairing an existing setup.
Lesser-Known Benefits: Multi-Room Viewing and DVR Capabilities
Most people don’t realize that modern TV antenna systems can be integrated with DVR setups, allowing you to record live TV just like you would on streaming platforms. And unlike many cable services that charge extra for additional rooms, with the right setup, your antenna can support multi-room viewing with minimal additional equipment. This makes it a family-friendly, cost-effective option for households that want access to all their favorite shows across multiple screens.
Say Goodbye to Streaming Fatigue
With streaming, there’s always the potential for service outages or issues with your internet provider. Plus, the sheer volume of streaming services can lead to decision fatigue—constantly flipping between platforms to find something to watch. With free-to-air TV, your choices are laid out clearly, often offering a perfect balance of entertainment, news, and educational programming. Plus, the picture quality delivered by digital antennas is often superior to streaming, especially if your internet connection is less than stellar.
The Final Verdict: TV Antenna Installation in Toowoomba
If you're tired of buffering, unreliable internet, and skyrocketing subscription costs, it might be time to consider TV antenna installation Toowoomba service. Not only does it provide a stable, high-definition TV experience, but it also gives you access to a range of channels without ongoing fees.
Whether you need a new installation, TV antenna repair, or general antenna service Toowoomba, making the switch to a digital antenna could significantly enhance your viewing experience, all while saving you money. So, if you’re ready to say goodbye to buffering and hello to seamless viewing, maybe it’s time to reconnect with the power of the antenna.

A Week:
Snoozy morning, Ra meowing & clawing at the door, tolerance mudra after untangling myself from eagle twist pose. Monday? Monday.
The steam in my face, in my hair, warming my hands and fingers. The sound of olive oil sizzling in the pan. The way you can smell the food and the seasonings throughout the entire crib. Monday? Monday.
Hesitation. Head full of dreams. I know sunlight is good for me, so outside I go. Seated half angel pose, buzzing of insects in the grass, a bird chirping, periodic silence, a car cranks in the distance. Tuesday? Tuesday.
Bookkeeping, responding to emails, spicy phone call at the top of it. I am a businesswoman. Tuesday? Tuesday.
You see it how you see it & I ain’t saying you wrong, I’m saying I’m grown and luckily God gave me a few eyes and a mind of my own. Tuesday? Tuesday.
Hot shower. Eyes slow to open. Lawn care people getting to it outside. Sleep schedule still doing its own thing. Caramel coffee. Water. Atomic Ormus. Let’s give a go at focusing diligently, shall we? Wednesday? Wednesday.
Long day, lots of words. Sleepy eyes, active mind. Lots of projections, internally, externally. Clock it. I hope you know it’s okay for you to exist. Wednesday? Wednesday.
Head to the sky in cow pose, deep arch. Flatten my back against the mat, rocking side to side in happy baby pose. Clearing up space in my mind, less rewind, occasional throw back. Friday Eve. Thursday? Thursday.
Laughing. Lots of it. Body wanting to work out. Thoughts electric. Pickles out the jar. Finding new insights in old books. Holding Ra, calming her down with words. Emotions evoked while listening in huddle. Thursday? Thursday. Sleeping so good. Wake up. Almost overslept. Wifi not working. Call to have it troubleshooted just for it to start back working out the blue. Okay. Yoga in the living room under the ceiling fan. Good morning. GM. Morning. Friday? Friday.
Less than a month left of summer. Bob, mid back & waist lengths cycle through my mind. For now, wildness prevails. I feel like me. Quiet spells broken, heart still open, holiday weekend. Friday? Friday.
Arousal. Handle that. But first visualize a purple force field covering me to shield myself from the thoughts of others floating overhead. Afterwards I bang my hand against the doorframe shuffling back from the restroom. Eyes still semi closed. Dream from last night reminds me of an excerpt from a book. Birds chirping. Wave building in the pit of my stomach. Saturday? Saturday.
Cardio heavy leg day. Clean crib. A side table by the window for the plants. Pushed the desk against the wall. Locked in? Locked in-ish. I don’t hunt, not for sport or for fun, not for love or necessity. I just ebb and flow, I just be. Just express myself and when I’m genuine and full of conviction, God listens. Feels good to be inspired, to feel loved, to feel at peace. With or without being seen- by another. Because I see me. Saturday? Saturday.
And on the 7th day She rested. Sunday? Sunday.

When mercury is in retrograde and placing in a super shitty spot, but you try to ignore all that spacey-wacy-mumbo-jumbo-sht and try to focus on yourself and staying possible, but the whole week is just one failure after another and not all of it is even on your part.
There is so much red ink in my planner this week for things I didn’t have energy or time for, and things other people didn’t have energy and time for.
So much waiting around for important things that didn’t even happen. I troubleshoot an issue at a job site for HOURS and didn’t see the thing happen, as soon as I leave like a day later it happens. How? Why? I have no answers…annoying. A contractor wouldn’t budge on a 4 hour windows they needed a tech on-site so I got to chill at a Job-Site for basically 4 1/2 hours because I got there early on accident , just for that contractor never to show. What a waste of time and energy I could of been actually doing other work.
You know on the small amount of time I actually had energy because I have none this week? None? Yeah none. Last night I closed my eyes for a nap and slept 4 hours 😑. Woke up past the I needed to be in bed to wake up at my normal time , so that means I slept through my alarms this morning and am waking up later than my normal time. Not only did I wake up late, I have no energy. None. I don’t even want to work today. My body hurts so bad and I can barely keep a thought because all my brain wants to do is close it’s eyes.
Did I eat enough this week? Nope. Why? Because I don’t myself I can’t spend more money on more food until I eat the food I have and then my adhd didn’t want to taste the food I have so badly it decided we weren’t hungry at all so I’ve massively under-eaten this week to maintain energy.
I also sacrificed my 2 to 3 Red Bulls a day in place of coffee monster, in which ♑️ looked up should have more caffine than Red Bull? So why am I so fcking tired. Why am I so tired? Why can I not stay awake and work at a normal capacity?
I’m so glad today is Friday. I want to get all dressed up tonight for him but I also feel like I don’t even have the energy to stand. I’m so afraid I’m going to be a dead unconscious fish all weekend because my body is so fcked from my overworking and underpaying it, that it’s way of striking is giving me nothing to work with. I wish I could just sleep all day and wake up and he would be here and then I’d magically have energy to pamper him. 😓

Hospitalized at PPMC after being diagnosed with oligo or low amniotic fluid on January 11th which is when my official leave started
The view from the room
And preparing for misoproxel first dose
I started around 4pm to receive my first dose of misoproxel. 4 hours later we received another dose, then another and then another-
4 doses and we were already at next morning Friday around 7am. The midwife then suggested that I try the balloon to help with mechanical ripening of the cervix. She inserted a rubber tube which was then inflated with saline which hurt so much. It felt like I had to go to the bathroom and couldn’t poo. The first hour after insertion was so painful I couldnt do anything. Then the nurse suggested that we move forward with Pitocin. Daddy went home to pick up some things and the nurse didn’t want to start pitocin without Daddy so I waited. I waited and ate and slept a little bit because I couldn’t sleep through the night before.
By 11am your Dad brought some more gimbap as lunch and I didn’t know them but that would be my last meal before having you. We then started on a low dose of 2mL/ hour pitocin around 11:30am. The contractions started a bit more consistently and by 2pm I was feeling it so I tried to distract myself by watching Sing Again 3 with Daddy. Then I wanted a cup of Starbucks pistachio latte (decaf) so I was drinking this when it longer worked. I couldn’t really do anything else but to think about the contractions. So we did the belly lift method, then used a towel to pulse my lower belly to distract my contraction pains. It was working but it was so often (every 3 minutes) it was very tiring for us both. So as suggested by my nurse, I decided to take a hot bath. She laid out the bathtub for me and I for the first time was naked in front of another women or stranger. She was Korean as well. PK of all things. Anyways, the sitting in a hot bath wasn’t really helping me fight off the contraction pains so I asked Daddy to pour some water over my back. This too didn’t work too well. He then played “주 너를 보호 하시고- 십자가“ song and I started balling because it was so painful and I thought how much more painful Jesus must have had to endure for us. So with that, I just laid helplessly in the bathtub sobbing and feeling those contractions and trying to breathe through it all.
Then it hit a point where I couldn’t see an end with this. The contractions were coming every 2-3 minutes and very strong. At that point I was 4cm dilated prior to the bath due to the balloon being taken out and assuming that would be an indicator of a 4cm dilated cervix. The balloon was also a painful journey and they had removed it prior to my bath.
I asked obba to call for epidural. I was hoping I would have dilated up to 5-6cm by the time I was done with my bath. Perhaps I wanted to know I waited past 4cm before epidural. Anyways I came out of the bath and was shivering like crazy because the room was cold. The male anesthesiologist came and inserted the needle for epidural and gave me my dose which took a bit of time to work but otherwise the procedure was quick. However it only worked dominantly on my left and I could still feel some pain on my right. It took some troubleshooting but I was in painless heaven for a bit. I wanted to sleep and rest for a bit before going forward so we paused our pitocin at this stage and I just rested. The midwife left from her shift and said I was on the right track and just said a lot of enocouraging words. She was hoping she would be a Friday baby. I was hopeful. However I was exhausted and now that I’m on epidural, I couldn’t eat anything and only drink clear liquid.
So then I noticed a fever and shivering by then which another midwife came and checked my cervix. She said I was only 4cm dilated which is where I was 4 hours ago. I was so defeated and discouraged. On top of that my water hasn’t been broken so she broke it for me to help expedite this process. By then I was shivering like crazy and my temp was rising so I asked them to check my temp which was another debaucle with the nurse I was with at that shift. She was relatively new and was following orders only from Polly the midwife. She wouldn’t even tell me if she was increasing pitocin dose or why she would only increase it in 1 increments instead of 2.
She measured my temp orally and under the armpit which had different readings. Under the armpit reading was 101.4 or above whereas the oral temp was slightly lower so she deemed it wasn’t a fever. Polly the midwife did the same as well. I wanted a Tylenol now and they just kept on refusing it because they wanted me to go on antibiotics (app and pen) and I argued it would kill all my gut microbiome which defeats the purpose of a vaginal delivery. I didn’t want them to assume it was a bacterial infection. In retrospect, they should have done blood work right away to check for lactate levels to see if it was an infection or not along with my WBC count.
They did not do this fast enough because I was having a septic shock 😳 with fevers and chills and severe shivers that went on for hours. They finally gave me Tylenol which lowered my temp but did not get rid of the shivering for another half hour. They then asked if I wanted the antibiotic which at that time I just said yes because my body was not acting normally and that was the only option I had in that mental state.
They saw the lab work and then finally took this seriously as an infection and a septic shock. Through all this I don’t know why Polly the midwife had to take her goddamn time to do everything. I truly despised her method and her lack of explaining that I just went through a septic shock. All the while, while I was shivering and having a fever the nurse was just like it’s normal, it’s hormonal change and didn’t even care that I was dying over here from shivering and all the whole that you were being exposed to this.
Finally after my vitals were normal and after giving me so much fluid that my feet started swelling, I had another contraction pain despite my epidural. It was prob around 6-7cm dilated timepoint. They kept on giving me higher dose of epi but didn’t work on me. I felt it mainly on the right side and so they had to reinsert the needle again. This was a painful experience altogether.
Finally after everything had died down I waited for you. It was 4am when they checked my cervix and deemed it was close to 10cm. I was feeling more shivers and then also feeling of wanting to poop so my nurse said I was ready to push. Midwife Polly was in another labor so said the nurses to get started first without her because she assumed it would take hours. With 10 pushes you were out at 7:11am.

Tuning Into Perfection: A Comprehensive Guide to TV Antenna Installation in Toowoomba
Imagine it's Friday night in Toowoomba, and you're all set to catch the latest episode of your favorite show. You've prepped your snacks, dimmed the lights, and settled into your couch. But as soon as the show starts, the picture begins to pixelate, and then—boom—no signal. The familiar frustration of a poor TV antenna setup kicks in. This situation, unfortunately, is all too common for many residents in Toowoomba. But it doesn’t have to be this way. With the right TV antenna installation Toowoomba service, you can experience clear, uninterrupted viewing, and this article will show you how.
Why Antenna Installation Matters in Toowoomba
Toowoomba’s unique landscape and geography can present challenges when it comes to signal reception. The rolling hills, tall buildings, and lush greenery all contribute to fluctuating reception. This is why TV antenna installation Toowoomba service requires a local touch. A poorly installed antenna may struggle to capture signals from the broadcasting towers scattered across the region, leading to frequent signal drops or poor image quality.
Most people don’t realize that their reception issues can often be resolved with a professional antenna service in Toowoomba. Whether you’re looking to install a brand-new antenna or seeking a TV antenna repair in Toowoomba, finding a professional who understands the local geography and signal challenges is key to a successful installation.
The Surprising Stats on TV Antennas
While many assume streaming services have completely replaced traditional TV antennas, the numbers suggest otherwise. According to a 2022 report by Roy Morgan, nearly 10 million Australians still watch free-to-air television regularly. Furthermore, despite the rise of on-demand services, the reliability and local coverage of free-to-air channels make them a valuable resource for news, sports, and regional programming. This is why ensuring your antenna Toowoomba setup is in peak condition is so crucial.
A recent industry survey also showed that over 70% of antenna issues are related to poor installation. Whether it's outdated equipment, improper alignment, or weak cabling, many issues could easily be avoided if the job was done right the first time. This makes finding the right installer essential.
What Most Websites Won’t Tell You About Antennas
Most articles and websites only touch on the basics of TV antennas—choosing the right model, positioning it correctly, and ensuring it's weather-resistant. But there’s more to it than that. One of the key factors to good reception is understanding the interference caused by various environmental factors, such as tall buildings, trees, and even nearby electrical lines. These obstacles can reduce the strength of the signal your antenna captures, which is why it’s important to have an antenna placed high and in an open area.
Another overlooked aspect is maintenance. Antenna repair in Toowoomba is not just about fixing broken parts. Regular maintenance, such as cleaning, re-aligning, and checking for any corrosion, can significantly prolong the life of your antenna. Over time, weather conditions can wear down your equipment, causing intermittent issues that may seem difficult to diagnose but are usually preventable with routine checks.
Why Go Local for TV Antenna Installation
While some may attempt a DIY installation, the specific challenges presented by Toowoomba’s landscape often require local expertise. Antenna installation Toowoomba service isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution. Local professionals understand which areas of Toowoomba face the most signal interference and can recommend the right antennas for each situation, whether it’s an outdoor model, a multi-directional setup, or one that’s digital-ready for high-definition channels.
Moreover, these experts can provide ongoing support. Regular tune-ups, antenna service in Toowoomba, and even troubleshooting for reception problems are part of the aftercare that local professionals offer, ensuring you get the best performance out of your system long after the installation.
Final Thoughts: Elevating Your Viewing Experience
When it comes to TV antenna installation Toowoomba service, the difference between a great viewing experience and constant frustration often comes down to the details. Local expertise, attention to interference factors, and regular maintenance are crucial to ensuring you get the most out of your antenna system. Whether you’re watching the evening news, a live sports game, or your favorite drama, don’t let poor reception spoil your experience.
Get in touch with a trusted local installer today, and say goodbye to pixelation and dropped signals. Your Friday nights—and the rest of your TV viewing—will thank you.

Shortwave Radiogram, 6-11 July 2023, program 312: Digital modes that are 100% recyclable
This was a big week in our house. I installed a new Verizon Fios router, with the help of a Verizon representative on the telephone. We were FiOS (as it was capitalized back then) customers since it was introduced to our neighborhood about 15 years ago. We have used Fios for broadband and landline, but not television -- our TV is via antennas. Our new Fios router and plan is supposed to increase our downloads to 300 Mbps. This would be helpful given that my wife is usually working from home, our son is visiting for the week and working his aerospace engineering job from our house, and I, in retirement, am producing Shortwave Radiogram and scouring the internet for news about international broadcasting for the @kaedotcom Twitter (for now) account. That adds up to a lot of data in and out. The people in our house using wireless devices noticed faster connections from the new router. But I, upstairs, with an ethernet connection to bring the internet to my large tower PC, large display and full-sized keyboard (I refer to this system as The Mighty Wurlitzer), noticed that things are now slow. Very slow. Like dial-up slow. Images in websites loaded about as slowly as images do on Shortwave Radiogram. That slowly! This made for a long night last night, as I usually audition over 100 images for the 10-12 or so that are transmitted each week on Shortwave Radiogram. URLs and links had to be clicked a few times for the desired action. Over the weekend I will troubleshoot and configure the router, OS and browser settings. I'm already making some progress. Eventually I'll figure this out. Videos of last weekend's Shortwave Radiogram (program 311) are provided by Bobby in Louisiana (Thursday 2330 UTC) and Scott in Ontario (Friday 1300 UTC). The audio archive is maintained by Mark in the UK. Analysis is provided by Roger in Germany.
